Building Homes, Protecting Nature, Broadmoor Development’s Eco-Friendly Commitment

Broadmoor Development: Building a Greener Tomorrow 🌱

  • Powering Homes with Solar

One of our core green initiatives is installing solar panels on our newly built houses and buildings. By harnessing the power of the sun, we reduce reliance on conventional electricity and lower our carbon footprint. A typical residential solar system, depending on size and location, can generate around 3,400 kWh of electricity per year for a standard 4 kW system.

That means our average tenants are not only living in modern, thoughtfully designed homes, but they’re also saving thousands of kilowatt-hours annually just by switching to solar-powered living. It’s a win for both their wallets and the environment.

  • Conserving Water with Desert Landscaping

Water is one of our most precious resources, especially in arid or drought-prone regions. That’s why Broadmoor prioritizes desert landscaping (also called xeriscaping) instead of water-hungry turf lawns. For example, on a typical 5,000 sq ft lot, this kind of drought-tolerant landscaping can save around 88,000 gallons of water per year, when compared to a traditional lawn. This amount of water savings is roughly equivalent to the annual average water use of two people.

Over the years, between our development projects and property flips, we estimate that Broadmoor has saved over a million gallons of water per year by using desert landscaping. That’s not just good stewardship, it’s real impact.

  • Planting Trees, Growing Life

Broadmoor also takes tree planting seriously. We’ve planted at least 50 healthy trees across our developments, and we’re not stopping there. Why trees? Because they give back in so many ways: shade, beauty, air purification, and oxygen.

A single healthy, mature tree can produce about 260 pounds of oxygen per year. That’s enough to help sustain two adults, according to environmental estimates.

Between our desert yards (which save water for two adults) and our planted trees (which supply oxygen for two adults), Broadmoor is contributing significantly to healthier communities and ecosystems.

  • Looking Ahead: Measuring Our Impact

We’re excited about tracking our environmental progress, and we have big plans:

    - Water savings tracking: We’re working on a system to quantify exactly how many gallons we’re saving every year across all our properties.

    - Tree impact: By counting how many trees we plant, we can estimate how much oxygen we’re helping generate, as well as how much CO₂ we’re helping sequester.

    - Community engagement: We want our tenants to join us in this green journey, whether by helping maintain water-wise yards, caring for the trees around them, or simply learning more about sustainability.

At Broadmoor Development, sustainability isn’t an afterthought. It’s a foundational part of how we build. We know that our responsibility goes beyond creating beautiful homes — it extends to building a legacy of environmental stewardship, one solar panel, one gallon saved, one tree planted at a time.
